Rules and discipline
Competition rules are published each August and apply to every cup and plate we run.
The rules in short
- Eligibility is by school year group, not date of birth. A pupil plays for the school they attend.
- Squad lists are submitted before the first tie. Only registered players may take part.
- Ties must be played by the round closing date. Postponements are agreed between schools and reported to us.
- Home schools appoint the referee for early rounds. NISFA appoints officials from the quarter-finals.
- Fielding an ineligible player means the tie is awarded to the opposing school.
Protests and disciplinary cases
Protests are made in writing within three days of the tie, by the school, not by a parent. Cases are heard by the committee, both schools are asked for their account, and the decision is sent to both in writing. Suspensions carry across competitions in the same season.
